SWELT RED MOUNTAIN

Bristol slowcore four-piece Swelt release new single 'Red Mountain', a spacious and meditative folk meander about the experience and importance of the outdoors. Coming in at just over 7 minutes the track feels like a folk song that has been stretched across a vast expanse, exposing and drawing attention to intricate details in-between chords: minimal instrumentation, drawn out violin bows, soft and subtle horns and close vocals all combine with a sense of spaciousness to create a melancholic but calming atmosphere. The band describe the inspiration behind the song and it's meaning, "The title of ‘Red Mountain’ was inspired by the glow of the Black Mountains in Wales on a late summers evening. The song is a discussion on the ambience of the outdoors, the escapism and vulnerability that comes with escaping the pressures of the day to day." Check out the video below made by the bands drummer/trumpeter Alex Hoslgrove, featuring visuals of natural imagery that perfectly accompany the song's meaning and mood. -Toby Evans-Jesra
